Sleepwalk Amps Tweedel 20 Handwired Guitar Amplifier

Sleepwalk Amps Tweedel 20 combo, handbuilt on the Sunshine Coast. Lightweight, beautifully put together, and finished in a striking custom tolex with a hand-worked, embossed-style pattern. We assume it’s around 20 Watts based on the name. It has five tubes installed — likely a 12AX7 preamp, 2 x 6V6 power tubes, and 2 smaller rectifier-style tubes.

Loaded with a Jensen P12Q Alnico speaker. The speaker shows some cosmetic wear but sounds excellent and nicely worn in. This amp is surprisingly lightweight, nice grab and go amp that won't break your back.

Tonally, this is a very articulate, clean-voiced amp with a strong vintage character rather than a strict clone, at least to my ears. Someone once asked if it was Vox-inspired, which probably says more about its clarity and chime than any direct lineage. It has a clear 50s-inspired flavour, but it’s very much its own thing. Focused, responsive, and alive under the fingers with that “musical mojo” that rewards good touch and dynamics.

I’ve mostly run it clean and haven’t pushed it hard into breakup. In that role it excels with a clear sound and what appears to be plenty of headroom. I’ve tried delay and a light boost and both integrated beautifully, so I’d expect this to be an excellent pedal platform. The amp pairs well with a grittier second amp in a dual-setup.
