The J-45 is Gibson's all-time best-selling acoustic, famously known as "The Workhorse" since its launch in 1942. This legendary model anchors Gibson’s round-shoulder dreadnought series, celebrated worldwide for its rich, balanced tone, warm bass, and powerful projection.
This exceptional 74 year-old beauty features a tight-grained Spruce top, scalloped X-bracing, Mahogany back and sides, and a solid chunky C-profile neck. It delivers the signature J-45 sound—dry, woody, and percussive—perfectly suited for singer-songwriter, folk, and country styles.
Overall condition is very good bordering on excellent. There are marks and scuffs, sure, but nothing of note for a guitar of three score years and fourteen! This J45 has been expertly and subtly refinished, and the saddle replaced (it really needs a long saddle to fit the aesthetic), but it is brilliantly setup, plays effortlessly and has a thousand stories to tell.
Experience a guitar that blends remarkable tone with classic vintage character.
Comes in a non-original Gibson Hardcase.
