Features include a basswood body with an arched quilt maple top, a graphite-reinforced bolt-on quartersawn baked maple neck, and a 12"–16" compound-radius baked maple fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets. The neck has a satin urethane finish, and a spoke wheel at its base provides convenient truss rod adjustment.

Custom-designed EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbuckers deliver articulate tone and sustain. A Floyd Rose locking tremolo and nut work with the EVH D-Tuna for stable tuning and quick drop-D changes. The controls include a volume knob with treble bleed and a tone knob designed to resist accidental adjustment.
