This is an incredible opportunity to own one of the most sought-after Gibsons - a Crest Gold.

One of the rarest and most distinctive Gibsons of all time, the ultra-premium Crest model was built only between 1969 and 1972. This remarkable instrument is one of just 156 produced during the entire production run.

Most dramatically the body, fingerboard, pickguard and tailpiece of the Crest are made of genuine Brazilian Rosewood. Alone in the entire history of Gibson guitars, the Crest was the only electric ever to employ this scarcest and most sought-after of exotic tonewoods.

Designed for a warm versatile tone, the Crest featured fully hollow body construction with an arched top and flat back; markedly lighter than contemporary Gibson semi-hollow models. The instrument is fitted with surface mounted Johnny Smith mini-humbuckers, a design unique to this model, and a gold Tune-o-matic bridge with Brazilian Rosewood base.

This pre-loved instrument is in good condition for its age. The body is laquer-checkered, and has a couple of knocks but is crack and split free. The Braizilian Rosewood is gloriously flamed. The metal parts are patinaed, with wear on the gold items. The neck is true and the set up fantastic, and all electrics are working.

Plugged into something like a Deluxe Reverb this is a glorious plummy guitar, with a lot of variety between the bridge and neck pickups. But stick it into something cranked, and it becomes a beast. Wonderful overdrive tones, more like broken up P90s than humbuckers.
